Carolyn Cooper, M.S., NCC CEO/Founder
Carolyn serves as the owner and strategic leader at GWCC, where she is committed to fostering culturally inclusive care that integrates comprehensive support services. With over 20 years of experience in the Human and Social Services sector, Carolyn has a robust background in Spiritual and Mental Health Counseling for individuals and families of all ages. In her practice, she utilizes a range of clinical modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment, Regulation, and Competency framework (ARC), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Carolyn believes in a client-centered approach, advocating for collaborative journeys toward healing and recovery.
Niki Mercado, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with years of experience working with children and families, dedicated to supporting clients through a strengths-based approach. My work focuses on leveraging a range of therapeutic techniques and skills, including behavior modification, mindfulness, and coping strategies, to help individuals and families thrive. I incorporate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation to guide clients toward positive change. I firmly believe in a collaborative, person-centered approach, recognizing that you are the expert of your own life. My goal is to highlight your unique strengths, empower you to reach your goals, and provide a safe, supportive space for growth.
Amber Brownell, LCSW
Amber Brownell, LCSW, has several years of clinical practice and extensive experience in the social services field. Her background includes working with both children and adults in acute, sub-acute, and outpatient settings, as well as with active duty military personnel, their dependents, and veterans. Amber is trained in various therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Additionally, she provides clinical supervision to counselors and social workers pursuing licensure, and oversight for masters level clinical interns.
Roxie Fambro, Service Coordinator
In my role as a Service Coordinator, I have the opportunity to advocate for seniors and individuals with disabilities. I facilitate access to community, state, and federal resources that support residents in living independently. Additionally, I promote social engagement through onsite and community activities and events.
Michael Donavan, Youth Activity Specialist
I am deeply committed to positively impacting the lives of others, particularly the youth. I believe that with the appropriate support young individuals can develop into productive adults and I take great satisfaction in being part of that support network. In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball gaming and football you may find me engaging in these activities around Fairbanks both indoors and outdoors.
Desirae Lawson, Senior Administrative Supervisor
Hi my name is Desirae Lawson and I’m 24 years old. I was born and raised here in Fairbanks, Alaska. I’m married with one son and a chocolate lab. My hobbies are dancing and hanging out with my friends. My biggest accomplishment in life is my son. Everyday with him I learn something new and I am amazed at how much and how fast he is growing. I’m excited to see where my motherhood journey goes.
